Leave a Review Day Is 22 October — How Tradespeople Can Make the Most of It
What happened
Leave a Review Day falls on Thursday 22 October 2026. The annual awareness day, founded by reputation management company Reputation in partnership with G2, encourages consumers to leave feedback for businesses they've used recently.
It coincides with National Write a Review Week (20–26 October), which amplifies the same message across platforms including Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, and industry-specific review sites.
For most consumers, these awareness days fly under the radar. But for tradespeople, they're a practical excuse to reach out to recent customers and ask for a Google review — something many trades business owners find awkward at the best of times.
What this means for tradespeople
Most tradespeople know they need more Google reviews but struggle with the asking. BrightLocal's 2026 consumer survey found that 41% of consumers now "always" read reviews before choosing a local business, and 31% won't use anything rated below 4.5 stars.
Leave a Review Day gives you a low-pressure reason to message past customers. You're not asking out of nowhere — you're referencing something that's happening. It shifts the dynamic from "please do me a favour" to "it's Review Day, here's a quick link."
The timing is worth noting too. If you completed work in September or early October, those customers are still close enough to the experience to write something meaningful. BrightLocal's data shows 74% of consumers only care about reviews written in the last three months — so fresh reviews carry far more weight than old ones.
What to do about it
Pick 5–10 customers you've done work for in the last month. On or around 22 October, send them a short message with your Google review link. Keep it simple:
"Hi [name], it's Leave a Review Day on the 22nd — if you were happy with the work, a quick Google review would really help. Here's the link: [your review link]"
That's it. No incentives, no pressure, no follow-up if they don't reply.
If you don't know your Google review link, search for your business on Google, click "Ask for reviews" on your Business Profile, and copy the link.
