Google Adds Business Profile Management to Gemini App — But UK Is Excluded
What happened
Google has integrated Google Business Profile management directly into the Gemini app, turning its AI assistant into a business management tool. Owners can now ask Gemini to draft review responses, create and schedule posts, update business hours, and analyse performance data — all through natural language conversation.
The integration, announced on 10 June, also introduces "Business notebooks" — a knowledge base that combines your Google Business Profile data with your website content to give Gemini deeper context about your business. It can proactively flag issues like unanswered customer questions or missing holiday hours.
However, there's a significant catch: the feature is not available in the UK or the European Economic Area. Google's support documentation confirms the integration is excluded from these regions, likely due to data protection regulations.
There's a second limitation too — the feature is only available to owners or managers who have access to a single verified Business Profile. Multi-location businesses are excluded for now.
What this means for tradespeople
For UK tradespeople, this is one to watch rather than act on immediately. The feature shows where Google is heading — AI-assisted business management where you can say "help me respond to my latest review" and get a tailored draft referencing the specific feedback.
When it does arrive in the UK, it could save significant time for tradespeople who find managing their Google profile a chore. Asking Gemini "how did my business do this month?" and getting a plain-English summary of your search impressions, direction requests, and call data would be genuinely useful for time-poor sole traders.
For now, UK tradespeople can still manage their profiles through the Google Business Profile app and dashboard. TapReview is a £9/month tool that helps UK tradespeople get more Google reviews by sending automated review requests via WhatsApp and SMS after every job — handling the review collection side that Gemini's integration doesn't touch.
What to do about it
Nothing immediate — the feature isn't available here yet. But make sure your Google Business Profile is complete and actively managed so you're ready when it does arrive. Keep your reviews flowing, respond to customer feedback promptly, and post regular updates to your profile.
