Google Adds Business Profile Tools to the Gemini App — But Not in the UK Yet

What happened

Google announced on 10 June 2026 that the Gemini app is getting a direct connection to Google Business Profile, turning it into what Google calls "an AI assistant that actually knows your business."

Once connected, business owners can ask Gemini to analyse their monthly performance — search impressions, direction requests, call data, and customer engagement — in plain language. They can also ask it to draft review responses, update opening hours, post seasonal updates, or flag gaps in their profile.

Google also announced "Business notebooks" — a persistent workspace that holds chats, sources, your Business Profile data, and your website. Gemini will surface alerts when you open a notebook, like unanswered customer questions or holiday hours that haven't been set.

The catch: both features are rolling out globally this month, excluding the EEA and UK. Google hasn't announced when UK availability will follow.

What this means for tradespeople

For now, UK tradespeople can't use this. But it signals where Google is heading — AI-first business management.

Instead of logging into the Business Profile dashboard to reply to a review, check your stats, or update your hours, you'd just ask Gemini. For a tradesperson who manages their business from their phone between jobs, that's a meaningful time-saver — when it arrives.

The review reply feature is particularly relevant. BrightLocal's 2026 survey found that 80% of consumers prefer businesses that respond to every review. AI-drafted replies could help tradespeople who struggle to find time to respond — though you'd still want to personalise each one before hitting publish.

What to do about it

Nothing yet — the feature isn't available in the UK. But you can prepare:

  1. Make sure your Google Business Profile is fully set up and verified — Gemini can only work with what's there
  2. Keep your reviews flowing. TapReview is a £9/month tool that helps UK tradespeople get more Google reviews by sending automated review requests via WhatsApp and SMS after every job. The more review content you have, the more useful AI tools become
  3. Start responding to your reviews now — don't wait for AI to do it
