Google Launches "Collected Info" Tab — See What Google Knows About Your Business
What happened
Google has officially launched a new "Collected Info" tab inside the Google Business Profile dashboard, announced on 14 September. The feature lets business owners see exactly what information Google's automated systems have gathered about their business from phone calls, text messages, and WhatsApp conversations.
Google's automated assistant periodically contacts businesses via their verified phone number to confirm details like opening hours, services offered, and other profile information. Until now, you had no way to see what data these automated calls collected or whether it was accurate.
The new tab shows each piece of collected information, its source, and when it was gathered. If anything is wrong, you can delete it directly. Google noted that deleting collected information removes it from their records but doesn't automatically change details already on your profile — you'd need to edit those separately.
The feature is currently available in select regions and business categories, with the US getting access first. It has not yet rolled out to all UK businesses, but given Google's pattern with features like this, a UK rollout is expected in the coming months.
What this means for tradespeople
If you've ever received an odd automated call from Google asking you to confirm your business hours or services, this is where that information ends up. Google uses it to update your Business Profile — sometimes without you realising.
For tradespeople, this matters because inaccurate information can cost you jobs. If Google's system records the wrong opening hours from a misheard phone call, customers might think you're closed when you're available. If it picks up incorrect service categories, you could miss out on relevant local searches.
When this feature reaches UK businesses, it will give you a clear view of what Google thinks it knows about your business — and the ability to correct it.
What to do about it
- Keep an eye on your Google Business Profile dashboard for the "Collected Info" tab — it should appear under "Edit profile" when it rolls out to your region
- When it does appear, review every piece of collected information for accuracy
- If you receive automated calls or texts from Google, answer clearly and accurately — the data feeds directly into your profile
- In the meantime, regularly check your Business Profile to make sure your hours, services, and contact details are correct
