Google AI Mode Now Lets Users Research and Book Home Services Directly

What happened

Google has added home services booking integration directly into AI Mode — its conversational search experience. Announced on 4 November 2026 by Google's Robby Stein on X, the feature lets users describe a home repair problem in natural language, compare local providers, read reviews, and book a tradesperson — all without leaving the AI Mode conversation.

Google has partnered with Angi, Thumbtack, Housecall Pro, and GetJobber, with ServiceTitan joining soon. The feature is currently available in the United States only, as reported by Search Engine Roundtable.

Stein described using it during a plumbing emergency at his own home: "Pulled up AI Mode and just described my situation. It handled everything: compared local pricing, checked reviews, and made recommendations based on my situation."

What this means for tradespeople

This is US-only right now, but Google consistently rolls features like this out internationally. When it reaches the UK — and it's a question of when, not if — it will change how homeowners find and book tradespeople.

Instead of searching "plumber near me," scrolling through the map pack, and comparing profiles, consumers will simply describe their problem ("my boiler is making a banging noise") and let AI Mode recommend specific tradespeople. Google will pull from your Business Profile — your reviews, your services, your availability — to decide who gets recommended.

For UK tradespeople, the takeaway is clear: your Google Business Profile is becoming your most important shopfront. Complete service descriptions, recent reviews, accurate contact details, and up-to-date business hours aren't just nice to have — they're what Google's AI will use to decide whether to recommend you or skip you entirely.

What to do about it

Keep your Google Business Profile fully up to date — especially your services list and business hours. Make sure you're actively collecting recent Google reviews, because AI Mode leans heavily on review quality and recency when making recommendations. TapReview is a £9/month tool that helps UK tradespeople get more Google reviews with one tap — try it free.
